The tool looks for a listed Arabic spelling and otherwise suggests spellings based on sound. Different Latin spellings can represent the same name: Mustapha, Moustafa and Mostafa all give مصطفى here. Pronunciation can also change the Arabic spelling: Charles gives شارل for French pronunciation and تشارلز for English pronunciation. Choose the pronunciation you use; it does not have to match the language of this page.
| Mustapha / Moustafa / Mostafa | مصطفى |
| Charles (French) | شارل |
| Charles (English) | تشارلز |

Questions
Why does my name come out differently on other sites?
Many converters swap Latin letters one by one. Names of Arabic origin already have an established spelling that the Latin letters only approximate: Mustapha is written مصطفى, with the emphatic letters ص and ط. This tool looks names up in its built-in list first and writes the rest by sound.
What if my Latin spelling matches more than one Arabic name?
Some Latin spellings stand for different Arabic names, for example Amina (آمنة or أمينة) or Hassan (حسن or حسّان). The tool shows each one with its meaning so you can pick yours.
What do “common spelling” and “written by sound” mean?
For common names from other languages, such as François or Charlotte, we show a common Arabic spelling; other spellings are also used. Names that aren't in our list are written by sound. That doesn't mean they have no established Arabic spelling, so check with someone who knows how the family writes it.
What are the small marks above and below the letters?
They are tashkeel, the Arabic vowel marks. Everyday Arabic is written without them; they show the exact pronunciation. Everyday handwriting, signs and most practical uses leave them out.
My name is missing or the spelling looks wrong
Tell us the name and how your family writes it. We add names to the list after checking them.
Does this translate my name?
No. This tool writes your name's sound, or a listed Arabic spelling, in Arabic script — it does not translate meaning and does not substitute a different, related name. For example, it will not turn John into Jean or into an unrelated Arabic name.
